MLS’s Drippiest Players Heading into the 2022 Season

With the new season just kicking off, take a look the drippiest ballers the league has to offer.

Last year at Wavy Footy, we started our MLS/NWSL Fits of the Week posts highlighting the waviest ballers in our domestic leagues and their pre-game fits. With the new MLS season just starting, this had us hyped for what fits would come this season, and for which players would drip the hardest. Take a look at eight of the players we have our eyes out for who killed it last year, and we know won’t disappoint for this season.

Jon Lewis – Colorado Rapids

Major shoutout to Jon as his IG post saying “We need an MLS @leaguefits ASAP👀” last year made us finally commit to our idea of weekly fits post. The winger has a strong kick game from Jordan’s to OFF-Whites and McQueen’s, and always has a cleanly assembled fit as you can see here. His mostly neutral colors keep it clean without trying to do much, because when the fit comes together right, you don’t have to.

Dominique Badji – FC Cinccinati

The former Rapid went from locker room competitions with Jon to now running the show at Cincy. Dom love’s some perfectly ripped denim and will always keep some ice on his wrist. Just like Jon the kick game stays tough as you can see him spotted in the highly coveted Air Jordan x OFF-White UNC Blue 1’s, and won’t ever be caught with a whack pair. He pulls up with mostly neutral colors but will use a small amount of bright orange or red to add some pop to what could’ve been a more understated fit. New team, but we’re expecting more of the same from Dom.

Kellyn Acosta – LAFC

We have another former Rapid with this one. See the trend? LA’s newest star fits right in with the city he’s moved to as the boy is always looking ready for a flick. The midfield and menswear maestro stays rocking a proper suit jacket or sweater with shoes as classy as they come, and has been a staple in our Fits of the Week. Don’t think that’s all he has though, as you can catch him in a wide variety of streetwear as well making one of the most versatile dripsters in the league. Good luck finding somebody who seamlessly switches up their vibes as smooth as Kellyn.

Sebastian Ibeagha – LAFC

The former NY drip don has become an LA big stepper and has embraced the brightness of the West Coast. You can catch him wearing some popping prints as shown in the pics, but also knows how to tone it down when needed. Mix in changes in his hair color, being able to rock different hats, and the Naija boy really has it all.

Nigel Robertha – DC United

Nigel has brought his Dutch flair to the league and has done so on and off the pitch. The inked up skillman loves a chest-out fit with an icy neck piece to complement his neck tat. You’ll never catch this guy in a blank t-shirt, as he goes for prints and designs that have some kick to it like his jewelry. From tees to shirts to jackets, you won’t find Nigel in something that doesn’t catch your eye.

Nkosi Tafari – FC Dallas

Alright, nobody is doing it like Nksoi. The Dallas don is the Russell Westbrook of MLS when it comes to fashion, and tosses on creative fits that simply nobody else is. From constantly changing his hair color, to crazy prints and outfits inspired by Anime, and even just articles of clothing that others won’t put on, Nkosi is in his own lane when it comes to fits.

George Ivan – Portland Timbers

George keeps it clean regardless of the season as you can see from these flicks. You can catch him in a cozy beanie and sherpa jacket when the Pacific Northwest weather is acting up, and brighter African prints when the sun is out with a slick chain. Whether you’re into more neutral tones, heavier layers or vibrant colors, George has got it all, which has made him another staple in the Fits of the Week.

Larrys Mabiala – Portland Timbers

George’s teammate Larrys is another Mr. Reliable when it comes to fits, and I’m sure has stirred up debates with who’s the waviest on the team. Larrys loves a heavy chain set swinging from his neck, and hits a wide variety of clothing from streetwear to menswear, different types of hats, all while always keeping the fits slick and well put together. The Timbers overall keep the heat on deck, with locker room competition among other dripsters in Eryck Williamson and Bill Tuiloma who deserve some honorable mentions here. Portland might just be the waviest team in the league, and we’ll see if they can live up to that this seasona.

You can catch us weekly with our MLS/NWSL Fits of the Week for constant coverage of the waviest pre-game fits in the leagues, and let us know who else should be on this list.
