Kristen Edmonds, a New Jersey native and Rutgers alum, has signed with Gotham FC as the club looks to rebuild for the 2023 season.

Kristen Edmonds, a defender from Central New Jersey, has been a successful player in the NWSL since 2014 after shining at Rutgers University.

Edmonds was signed to a two-year deal by NJ/NY Gotham FC today.

“I am so excited to make this move to Gotham FC and I am looking forward to this new challenge with this club,” said Edmonds. “I’ve worked really hard for a long time and I’ve fought for this dream with a lot of passion all over the world and this country. It all started in New Jersey, and to come full circle with my family in the stands for all of our home games is something super special to me. I’m thankful for this opportunity and eager to get started with the new staff and my new teammates!”

Edmonds started 44 games for the Kansas City Current during the previous two seasons, including all three playoff games in the Current’s journey to the NWSL Final in 2022. Edmonds led the club in starts (21) and minutes played (1,721) in 2021, and he also served as captain for six games.

Prior to joining the Current, Edmonds spent five seasons with the Orlando Pride, earning 10 goals in 72 games. She led the team in scoring and assists in her debut season with the club. Edmonds began her NWSL career with the Western New York Flash, where she made 29 starts in 31 games over two seasons.
