The Caribbean nation has consistently produced fashionable ensembles, and that reputation won’t end this year. Today Adidas announced the official kits for the Reggae Girlz and Reggae Boyz. The debut includes home and away kits, a reversible anthem jacket, and a pre-match jersey.
Fans got a peek at the collection in mid-January when Jamaican designer Grace Wales Bonner sent the striking home kit down the runway. The yellow silhouette is paired with green pinstripes, black shoulder stripes, and an overlapping collar featuring the flag’s colors. The ‘80’s-inspired away kit is primarily “night brown” with pale yellow logos, and a particularly attractive collar and cuffs.
Although some fans are critical due to the team’s history of superb boldness, these kits prove to be the perfect melody of football and fashion. The partnership between Wales Bonner, Adidas and the Jamaican Football Federation is the first of its kind. The luxury label’s name can be found on all of the items across various sections.
“The opportunity to design the first on pitch kits for the Jamaican national teams with Adidas Football has been such a special opportunity. It has meant so much to me personally and I am very grateful for the support and trust of adidas Football and the Jamaican Football Federation.
For the collection we set out to celebrate Jamaican style and to offer something timeless, elegant and essential. I hope the shirts bring joy to the wearers and carry forward the everlasting beauty and uplifting spirit of the island,” said Bonner.
The kits represent Jamaica in the sophisticated way soccer nor fashion have seen before. New and vintage football jerseys are currently trending and can be spotted on any street around the world. These items tell a story and this particular collection has a lot to say.
