Today St. Louis CITY SC dropped a video to unveil a new art installation at their stadium site paying homage to a little known piece of city history that their stadium sits on, MIll Creek Valley.
The team, which kicks off its first MLS campaign next season has been very intentional about the way it’s building its connection with the city, from sourcing local restaurants to fill out the stadium menus, to hiring local artist Mvstermind to curate the sound of the club.
One dedication that shines out is one that many people in the city are unaware of: it is a tribute to Mill Creek Valley. Mill Creek Valley, a historically Black area that vanished in the 1950s, formerly stood on the location of CITYPARK, and the team set out to honor it with an art project.
This project is more than just a tribute to Mill Creek Valley. It’s an opportunity to remember the hard truths of our past and build a brighter future for all of us.
