Nike has officially dipped its toe into college sports NIL sponsorships by signing UCLA Women’s Soccer star Reilyn Turner. The signing marks the brand’s first (of many) college student athlete sponsorships.

Turner, a Sophomore was one of four players in the Pac-12 to start all 20 games this past season and netted 10 goals in the process. This earned her 2nd-team All-Pacific-Region and all Pac-12 honors.

Nike took notice of Turner’s play on the field and passion to help provide opportunities to boys and girls off the pitch. The brand has tapped her to help with its community impact work in Los Angeles, with a focus on working with their non-profit partners.

While speaking on the partnership, Turner had this to say: “As a Black woman and Mexican American, I think about those who have paved the way for me and how they used their platforms to create so much change, even beyond sport, I hope to be a role model for those around me and those after me, and I’m so excited to be a part of what Nike is bringing to the future of women’s sport.”
