AFC Bournemouth has confirmed that a group including by Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan has finalized a purchase of the club.
Previous owner Maxim Demin has sold his whole stake in the club to a consortium fronted by Bill Foley, the founder and owner of the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise Vegas Golden Knights.
Jordan, an award-winning actor, director, and producer, will lead the minority ownership group alongside Nullah Sarker (The Players Tribune, Davis Cup), and the duo will collaborate closely with Foley in areas such as worldwide marketing and club internationalization.
According to the club, the new owners plan to invest in the first-team, the academy, and the fan experience at Vitality Stadium, in addition to immediately beginning development of a state-of-the-art training facility and expanding financial commitment to the club’s women’s and girls’ teams.
“I have tremendous respect for the passion and support the Bournemouth community shows for this club and believe that connection to the community is the foundation for success of any sports team,” Foley told the club’s official website.
“We will move forward with an ‘always advance, never retreat’ approach that has defined all of my endeavours. I am committed to work with the best football and business minds available to enhance player development, facilities, and the fan experience to put AFC Bournemouth in the best possible position to succeed.”
