BLAINE, MINNEAPOLIS (August 10, 2022) — The East team overcame the West team with a late comeback in the first MLS NEXT All-Star Game presented by Allstate, winning 2-1. The East squad was spearheaded by the game’s MVP, Orlando City SC’s Favian Loyola, who helped turn around a 1-0 deficit in the second half with his wing play.
Cruz Medina of the San Jose Earthquakes scored the first goal in the history of the MLS NEXT All-Star Game presented by Allstate just six minutes into the game with a deflected shot from beyond the box that beat the flat-footed East All-Star goalie.
Philadelphia Union’s Marcos Zambrano-Delgado scored the game-winner for the East All-Stars. The West held the 1-0 advantage until the 86th minute. Inter Miami CF’s Benjamin Cremaschi was taken down by the goalkeeper for a penalty kick.
