According to the New York Post, FOX Sports has bought MLS TV rights beginning with the 2023 season.
According to Andrew Marchand, ESPN will no longer air MLS games. Instead, FOX Sports has extended its contract with Major League Soccer and will air a limited amount of games each year. FOX Sports allegedly offered MLS $7 million per season for TV rights earlier this year.
FOX’s partnership with MLS is noteworthy, with every single MLS game streamed exclusively on Apple’s MLS Season Pass from 2023 to 2032. It will primarily aid MLS’s continued presence on television.
Despite the MLS-FOX agreement, the domestic league will have fewer games on broadcast now that ESPN has left. Meanwhile, Spanish-language rights are up in the air, with TelevisaUnivision not in a hurry, if at all.
