Through the course of those talks, it quickly became clear that the opportunity does exist to deliver a truly world class women’s professional soccer team to
Oakland, and The Town. Our two groups look forward to realizing that opportunity, and to
working together to develop what we hope can become the best women’s soccer team that the world has ever seen.”
Additionally, both organizations will work outside of professional soccer to provide opportunities within youth soccer and adult recreational soccer in the to “…aid in the healthy development of local girls and boys while also working to support community based recreational and competitive adult amateur soccer.” Lastly, this alliance has announced its commitment to “bringing back international exhibition games to the Oakland/East Bay, including at the Oakland Coliseum, which still holds soccer as some of its highest grossing events ever on record there.”
This alliance is in the early stages of planning for these commitments and will keep the
U.S Soccer world and the Oakland/East Bay communities abreast of their plans and actionable steps as they continue the planning process. “The work ahead in the coming months will also present a unique opportunity for members of our community, and for lovers of the beautiful game of soccer, to share your voice in the formation of our club.
