St. Louis CITY SC, Major League Soccer’s newest team, celebrated the official debut of its first primary kit today. The jersey, created in conjunction with adidas, includes the club’s vivid and trademark CITY Red hue with navy and yellow elements to pay respect to the City of St. Louis flag, which is also prominently featured as a patch along the shirt’s bottom hem.
The classic geometric pattern reflecting the steel plates of the Gateway Arch is abstracted boldly down the lefthand side, which is a first-of-its-kind design collaboration between CITY SC and adidas, stylishly expressing this important point in our journey.
“It was important for the design of our inaugural jersey to reflect who we are as a club and as a community: proud, contemporary, and not afraid to stand out. The Arch, the flag, the colors…we love that it feels unapologetically St. Louis, today but also with an eye towards our future.” said Lee Broughton, St. Louis CITY SC’s Chief Brand Architect.
The “CITY Kit” will be worn by St. Louis CITY SC players during the 2023 and 2024 MLS seasons, and will include branding from the club’s STLMade founding partners, including Purina as the main, front-of-jersey sponsor and BJC HealthCare as the secondary sleeve partner.
The jersey is constructed entirely of recycled materials and features the new Apple TV sleeve patch for the first time. The unprecedented 10-year relationship between MLS and Apple begins in 2023. The remainder of the teams’ jerseys will be disclosed in the weeks preceding up to the start of the 2023 regular season, with each having a distinctive color patch.
